It seems that every tour I go on is a little better than the last. I suppose that's how it's supposed to be. So, I don't know why I'm shocked every time. None the less, I'm very thankful for all the folks that help me and my band in all the different ways that they do. Whether its the people that give us a floor to crash on for a night or two, the folks that book us to play their bars and basements, the friends that spend their time and money working on/putting out our records/making fliers/going to shows and things of the like, the roommate(s) and girlfriends that are constantly willing to listen to rehearsal and constant band talk that they've heard all too many times. Everyone.
There's absolutely no way I could do what I do without you people. I owe you beer and cookies.
This most recent tour I was lucky enough to spend with my friends in Decades and the man himself, John Krohn. I saw some new towns and visited some favorites. It was literally too fun and it won't be the last time. Here's all the shit I should've been updating while it was happening. I'll try to keep it brief.
Grand Rapids, MI- I always have fun at Mulligans. I was happy to see the friends that I expected and the few definitely didn't expect to see.
Kalamazoo, MI- Best city in the United States. Proven with science animal testing and shit.
Pierceton, IN- Made some great new friends at The Blue Lion and got to hang out with the great John Davey!, among others. I challenge you to have a better night than I did. Don't, though. Don't waste your time.
Toledo, OH- On the bright side, I found my new favorite R. Kelley song.
Columbus, OH- There was a tree in the way. However, rocking ensued. Got to see a friends band. That was sweet. Also, we spent HOURS at Kafe Kerouac and Used Kids Records. If ever you're in Columbus. Check those places out. Seriously.
Then we spent a few days in a cottage in a state park in Kentucky. I'll keep the details to myself... but we met Lenny. If you ever have the chance, meet Lenny.
Knoxville, TN- FREE POOL ON WEDNESDAYS
Clarksville, TN- The Coup (It's pronounced kew... you dense, Michiganding motherfucker)! Good friends and pictures and cliffs and caves and shit. John helped a deer find it's way.
Louisville, KY- Fucking finally! I finally played Louisville. It was everything I imagined, followed by a dance party on Fridays and Saturdays. Met some great musicians and heard some baller stories. Listened to the same husband & wife record twice over.
Lafayette, IN- It's even sweeter the second time around. Never played a kitchen before. It'll happen again. The Ant Pharm is one of the best houses I've played in a while and Shiloh is one of my new favorite Chicago bands.
Chesterton, IN- The Sound Cellar is my kind of place. Mike and Jayne are the kind of folks that any band should be very thankful to come across.
Lansing, MI- If Kalamazoo is were my wife, you'd be the dirty, whore-ish mistress that I just can't quit. I need you in my life. Twas a good time, gang.
This post probably should've been a lot shorter. Whatever, though. Suck it, friends!
HEY! Shits going on. Pay attention.
I couldn't be more excited for this tour with Decades. It starts on Wednesday and if it's anything like the last tour I went on (with Brown Bottle Flu), it's going to be awesome and smelly and we're going to watch the trilogy... Mighty Ducks, obviously. So, look out, various cities and small handful of its inhabitants!
